Natural remedies to help bowels

Our body gets nourishment from the food we eat. Any edible item carries some or more amount of calories that the body uses as energy to perform various tasks through its complex systems. But then, the energy used (in common language – the fuel) is released when certain processes are done on the food. This is called as metabolism and it has many stages from breaking the food particles to make them compatible so that they are digested and absorbed properly.

The digestion takes place in intestines and hence, colons play significant role in building, maintaining and repairing bodily cells, organs and so the systems. As compared to yesteryears, today, we have many bowel problems. This could be due to modern lifestyle, dietary habits, apathy towards one’s own health, sedentary lifestyle, no physical work and the junk-food, a main culprit. Intestines work round the clock; whether you eat or not. They always keep churning whatever they have inside them and this process is known peristalsis.

Over the times, intestines get weakened due to continuously working on the food that contains high fats and carbohydrates. There are many foods that please your tongue but bite your intestines but then too, intestines tackle them without any complaint. The best example is having carbonated water (as in soft-drinks). One should really think that are soft-drinks really soft??? Obviously, they are not. Intestines get coated with substances that are sticky and gluey in nature such as cheese, chocolates, refined flour items etc. Intestines then stop absorbing important nutrients since their sucking holes/orifices are clogged up. It is therefore, very important for everyone to go for colon cleansing.

There are many natural remedies to help bowels. Herbs like hoodia, Garcinia, Indian gooseberry; Eclipta, Terminalia chebula etc possess natural properties of cleansing the intestines without any harmful or side effects. They can be taken as single herb or can be taken in any formula that contains the bland of these herbs.

Simply eating enough roughage or fiber can help cleansing the bowels since they are natural fat-binders. They bind the fats that are present in the intestines and can expel them out with feces. Fiber rich food also helps forming the stools and can accelerate the peristalsis and hence, help relieving constipation. Health experts also favor drinking plenty of water to flush out toxins from the body as a part of bowel cleansing. However, one should go for having lukewarm water and not a chilled one.

Dark green leafy vegetables, fresh fruit juice etc help cleansing the bowels naturally and they also provide essential vitamins and minerals that can build the body and improve immunity. If taken in proper quantity, garlic, cumin seeds, black pepper, ginger, cinnamon and ginger can also cleanse the intestines and can make them parasite-free. They are natural awtnthelmintic and can terminate any groh of microorganisms within the intestines.

In some ancient medicinal sciences, bowel cleansing can be effectively achieved with the help of enema. This is a procedure that involves inserting medicated material in the intestines through the anus. Various devices are available for enema and the material used in the procedure contains special herbs and oils that have cleansing properties.
